Traditional Chinese Medicine, including Acupuncture, is the oldest professional and continually-practiced medicine in the world. The medical system’s written literature stretches back 2,500 years and archaeological evidence of acupuncture extends back as far as 4,000 years ago.  The basis of Traditional Chinese Medicine is found in the processes of nature – in the ability to undergo and regain balance.  Acupuncture aims to re-establish this balance and harmony within the body by supporting the body’s healthy energy and dispersing any pathological energy.  Through balance within the body overall health and wellness can be achieved.

The most recognized method of re-establishing balance in Traditional Chinese Medicine is Acupuncture, which involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needs into points along pathways called “meridians”.  The needles regulate and build the body’s “Qi”, or life force energy, which flows along the meridians.

Acupuncture: Decoding the Body’s Wisdom

  • Interview

Acupuncturists spend time with patients learning about symptoms, medical history and course of a disease or injury. They go beyond the surface to understand how your unique story, lifestyle, emotions, and environment may be influencing your health.

  • Visual Inspection

Acupuncturists look for physical clues on tongue, face and in body structure. They observe subtle signs like complexion changes, posture, or tongue color—each offering insight into your internal balance.

  • Listening

Acupuncturists listen to breathing and voice tone. The tone, rhythm, and strength of your voice and breath can reveal imbalances or blockages in your body’s energy flow.

  • Touch

Acupuncturists palpate, or touch, areas of the body including pulse and trigger points. They assess the quality of your pulse, tension in muscles, and sensitivity in specific points to guide personalized treatment.

Now Offering Micro Needling with Acupuncture

Restoring Balance from the Inside Out and the Outside In

Acupuncture works to restore the flow of Qi throughout the body. Microneedling with Procell Therapies works at the skin’s surface, using tiny, controlled micro-channels to signal the body’s natural repair response. At Boulder Natural Health, we offer these therapies together in a single visit, so that regulating your body’s energy and renewing the tissue you want to support can happen at the same time.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Acne Scars

Hyperpigmentation

Stretch Marks

Procell Microneedling is a gentle treatment that revitalizes your complexion by stimulating your skin’s outer layer. This stimulation activates your body’s natural collagen and elastin production, producing skin with more firmness, elasticity and natural glow. Think of Procell like a skin reset button that targets hyperpigmentation/sun damage, fine lines and scars to naturally bring out healthier, stronger skin. The Procell Microchanneling system is an FDA cleared innovative device using precise application of needles to provide a safe efficient treatment.

With minimal downtime, microneedling is ideal for quickly getting back to your routine and enjoying Colorado’s outdoor activities. Safe for most skin types, Procell provides an immediate brightening boost and a radiant, healthy look that continues to improve over time.

Your treatment consists of a double cleansing of your face, neck and decollete, followed by application of a peptide serum and microneedling. The Procell serums contain stem cell growth factors, peptides, and a wide range of anti-inflammatory cytokines. They are infused into the skin during the treatment with the enzymes encapsulated in liposomes for easy absorption. Once the needling is complete, an organic toner and facial oil are applied to moisturize and calm the skin. During the session, a body balancing acupuncture treatment is incorporated.

For 90 minutes after the treatment, you should avoid sun exposure and avoid application of other skincare products. For the next 24 hours, you should avoid active skin products while generously using gentle hydration/moisture on your skin. It is important to maintain hydration in the days following your session.

Microneedling will leave your skin temporarily reddened or pinkish, and your complexion will be glowing. The process may leave your cheeks feeling warm and flushed. You will want to avoid exposure to sun immediately after the process.

Improvements in the quality and appearance of your skin may be seen within the first 24 hours, however the production of new collagen continues for several weeks following your treatment.  After 2-3 treatments, you will develop more robust collagen production and notice diminishing of dark spots and softening of fine lines and scars.

The number of treatments required will vary depending on your goals. Typically, a series of 4 to 6 sessions is recommended. Each session will be scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart to allow collagen production to optimize between sessions.

Please discontinue the use of prescription Retin-A products for one week prior to treatment. Discontinue the use of other active products including Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and AHAs for 3 days prior to the microneedling.

Yes, there are times when microneedling is not recommended, please avoid microneedling:

  • During pregnancy or while breastfeeding
  • With active Herpes simplex in the treated area
  • With active inflammatory conditions including dermatitis, infections, eczema, etc.
  • While taking cortisone or steroid injections
  • While taking photosensitive drugs
  • If you have a bleeding disorder
  • If you have taken Accutane in the past 6 months
