What is QEEG?
“Quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) is a modern type of electroencephalography (EEG) analysis that involves recording digital EEG signals which are processed, transformed, and analyzed using complex mathematical algorithms. ” –Journal of Medicine and Life
QEEG has been used since the 1960s and applied in neurologic settings. In more recent years it has been used to guide protocols in neurofeedback settings. Today’s technology and research has advanced to where we can use it to inform far more than neurofeedback protocols.
How does QEEG Work?
QEEG is noninvasive, painless and safe to use. Much like a thermometer records your temperature, but does not affect your temperature, the brain map records the electrical activity of the brain without changing anything.
Boulder Natural Health uses an award-winning recording device by Zeto. Data is analyzed then reported in an easy-to understand report by Axon EEG Solutions.
How is QEEG Reporting Used in Naturopathic Healthcare?
In a holistic healthcare setting we can use QEEG reports to help target herbal and nutritional supplementation as well as taylored lifestyle interventions to support your unique individual brainwave patterns. Lifestyle interventions are often part of a naturopathic treatment plan, and using QEEG helps fine tune and target interventions for the individual.
A QEEG report can also be used to coordinate care between your Naturopathic Doctor, medication prescribers (MD, NP, psychiatrist, etc), lifestyle coaches, and therapists.
