Get ready for the first annual Naturopathic Medicine Week! Thanks to legislation passed by Congress last week, October 7-13th has been officially recognized as a time to honor and raise awareness of the practice of naturopathic medicine throughout the nation. This decision comes at an important time for naturopathic doctors in Colorado. This past spring the Colorado state legislature passed a bill allowing naturopathic doctors in Colorado to be registered in the practice of naturopathic medicine.
The CEO of the American Association of Naturopathic Doctors (AANP) recognizes the importance of this federal recognition saying:
“Passage of this resolution is an historic achievement for naturopathic medicine. The Congress has now officially recognized the important role naturopathic medicine plays in effectively addressing the nation’s health care needs as well as in addressing the increasingly severe shortage of primary care doctors.”
According to an article from the AANP, “The Resolution (S. Res. 221) recognizes the value of naturopathic medicine in providing “safe, effective, and affordable health care” and encourages Americans to learn more about the role of naturopathic doctors in preventing and treating chronic and debilitating conditions.”
We at Boulder Natural Health are thrilled to see naturopathic medicine recognized on a national level.
